Disney Medley by Lea Salonga

So happy to find this medley, which I listen to and sing-along with every morning when I was in the Phils. I am a big fan of Lea Salonga since I was in gradeschool (result of Preciosa Soliven's brainwashing every flag ceremony, hehe). My dad is also a huge fan! He can rave endlessly about Lea and really thinks she's the perfect singer/daughter/lady. That was why he was extremely happy I studied in OBMCI-Greenhills, kasi school nga ni Lea, and also kept reminding me that Lea went to Ateneo when I was choosing my college university. Haha, memories. I now remember when I was in gradeschool, he would sing this made-up song of his about Bergamo 1 and Bergamo 2 (OB grade ranking, B3 being the lowest) as a reminder that he doesn't accept a B2 ranking, always need to be a B1 so I'd be like Lea. I guess if I was gifted with a singing voice, he would have really pushed me to go to theater and aspire to be on Broadway as well. Hahaha. Well, too bad I didn't get his family's talent of singing. I would have loved to have a good singing voice, too!

Anyway, back to the video, you should definitely hear her Hercules and Mulan renditions. I just totally, truly, absolutely love her version of "Go The Distance"!!!

Will now look for my other Lea favorites: The Journey, One Voice & On My Own. =)

Last Christmas

At our usual family gathering, a 15-second video of my cousin singing Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing". Oye, he's obviously gay. Pero kakainggit. Buti pa sya kaya nyang kumanta ng ganyan kataas considering he has an Adam's apple! Haha. Sayang nga yan lang nakunan ko ng video. Should have recorded the whole song.

Just cannot resist buying these last night for my future niece. My brother will be having a baby girl on Feb 2009 and I'm so so so excited!!! 90% of my cousins' babies/kids are boys so having a baby girl would be such an event for our whole clan. And I'm so excited for my future niece to be wearing these super cute socks. =D

Forest Hike and Trek

I can't believe I actually walked 11kms!!! And non-stop for 4 hours! My feet and legs are hurting until now. But I also can't believe there is actually a real forest trail here in Singapore! Will definitely have some place to go whenever I feel the longing for nature. We took the shorter route yesterday so next time, I can take the longer route. I wonder if that would be more than 20km going to and back? I hope it doesn't kill me then. Hehehe.

I Want To Watch This!!!!!!

I've been hearing raves from my friends about this film, especially Mommy Ro who has seen it X times already! Now, this is the only thing I hate being away from home - not getting to see good filipino movies. I really, really want to watch this so much!

And for people like Miguel who thinks watching Tagalog films are baduy - shame on you! You should be proud Filipinos can do good films such as this. Also hearing this beautiful song is another pinoy pride!

A Lion's Touching Story

In 1969, Aussies John Rendall and Ace Berg bought a cub at Harrods (when it was still legal). They took care of him and played with him for over a year. But when he grew up to be so big, they had no choice but to return him to the wild. After a year, they decided to visit their lion in Kenya. They were warned that he already grew up wild and might not recognize them anymore. The 2 guys took the risk and the video shows their reunion. The lion even introduced these 2 guys to his pride later on and other vids show the whole pride (those completely raised in the wild) playing with John and Ace.

So touching is this vid that you also want to hug the lion. This video disproves all people who tell me that I cannot have a white tiger as a pet! Now I just need to save a lot of money to make and maintain my own tiger sanctuary. ;)

The Little Mermaid on Broadway!

Was watching a rerun of the Today show and was pleasantly surprised that Little Mermaid is already on Broadway! Sierra Boggess, the one playing Ariel, said that it has been a dream come true to meet Jodi Benson (voice of Ariel in the cartoon) and to perform this character that she has loved since she first saw 20 years ago. Wow, I've never realized it has already been 20 years since I first saw and fell in love with the Little Mermaid. When Sierra performed 'Part of Your World' in the Today show, it was so cute to see those little girls watching it and being mesmerized by Ariel. I remember how I felt when I first saw this film and its effect continue with me until now. Objectively speaking, Beauty and the Beast had the best songs and most beautifully-drawn characters in all Disney princess movies. But the Little Mermaid is just so lovable! And it really brings me to a magical world everytime!

I've read a post from a Special Needs Day Care Assistant that the autistic kids in their center are so much obsessed with Ariel! One lady also said her autistic brother always ask her to sing Part of Your World to make him happy. Well, sabi ko na nga ba autistic talaga ako. Haha. But seriously, the Little Mermaid has this different magic with children and all those still kids at heart. Someday, when I have a little girl of my own, I'd definitely let her watch The Little Mermaid. And she'd be lucky 'cos she'd be inheriting a huge Little Mermaid collection from me. Hehehe.

Now, I have another addition to my list of things I definitely need to do -- watch Little Mermaid on Broadway! =D

Hongkong Weekend

Spent the weekend after my birthday with my parents in HK. Was kinda disappointed that there wasn't any good change in HK since I last visited 5 years ago. Everything just became older and dirtier. =( Since this is definitely one of the best shopping cities in the world, I hope they improve the city in the next couple of years. Good thing shopping here remains to give the best choices in clothes! =D

Shadowfeet

Due to Miguel's obsession with Brooke Fraser, hence, this vid. This is the 2nd single she released in the US. She was a famous singer in NZ before moving to Oz and now penetrating the US market. All additional infos by Miguel, as in he googled everything about her. He was actually the one who introduced me to Brooke Fraser 'cos I didn't know her before kahit na lagi ako nakikinig ng Hillsong. Hehe. He keeps on gushing na she's tall, pretty and has a great voice. Well, sabi ko na nga ba, mahilig talaga sya sa mga mukhang bumbayin. Hehehehe. ;)

Been having LSS with this song since yesterday. I super love Brooke Fraser (who is Miguel's crush, btw)! She's the brunette girl in the vid. Really admire her for writing such a beautiful song and wow, I hope I could sing like her! Hahaha.

Chinatown Photoshoot

It was my first time to be amongst pro photographers and to use manual mode in photo-shooting. And as continually blessed as I am, the photoshoot was in the temple I have been longing to take photos of. Every Sunday to and from church, I would pass by this marvelous-looking temple and I told myself that once I get a DSLR, this is really the place I'd like to take pictures of. So thanks talaga to Kuya Glen for bringing me to this group meeting and teaching me the basics in raw photography. :) My favorite pictures are here: http://iheartpinas.multiply.com/photos/album/11/Circles but am posting pics of the place to show how nice it is on the eyes.

Shout to the Lord

Dolly Parton in American Idol

Last Friday, Dolly Parton performed this song in American Idol. Am not really a fan of country music but Dolly's are the few country songs that I listen to. She is such a good songwriter and this song is another one of those that came from her heart. Was able to relate to the lyrics, was convicted, and was amazed that Dolly has been so honest about it. We do tend to feel so full of ourselves when good things happen to us. We praise ourselves too much thinking it was all our doing that made us achieve these good things in life. We forget that everything was willed by God and that if we enjoy blessings, that is because God CHOSE to give us that blessings. Even if you work yourself to death, if God does not want to bless you, you will still be stuck at a poor state. I'm glad this song has reminded me of my total dependency to God. I am really, totally useless without Him.

Lyrics:
I'm to the point where it don't add up
I can't say I've come this far with my guitar on pure dumb luck
That's not to say i know it all
'Cause everytime I get too high up on my horse I fall

'Cause I've got
Somethin' lifting me up
Somethin' holding me down
Somethin' to give me wings and
Somethin' to keep my feet on the ground
I've got all I need,
Jesus and gravity

But I'm as bad as anyone
Taking all these blessings in my life for granted one by one
When I start to thinkin' it's all me
Well somethin' comes along and knocks me right back on my knees

and I've got

Somethin' lifting me up
Somethin' holding me down
Somethin' to give me wings and
Somethin' to keep my feet on the ground
I've got all i need, Jesus and gravity

He's my friend
He's my light
He's my wings
He's my ?

and I've got
Somethin' lifting me up
Somethin' holding me down
Somethin' to give me wings and

Somethin' to keep my feet on the ground
I've got all I'm gonna need,
I got Jesus, I got Jesus, I got

Somethin' lifting me up
Somethin' holding me down
Somethin' to give me wings and
Somethin' to keep my feet on the ground
I've got all I'll ever need,
cause I got Jesus and gravity

Somethin' lifting me up
Somethin' holding me down
Somethin' to give me wings and
Somethin' to keep my feet on the ground
I've got all I'll need
cause I've got Jesus and gravity

Jesus, I've got Jesus, I've got Jesus
He's my everything
He lifts me up
He gives me wings
He gives me hope
and He gives me strength
and that's all I'll ever need

As long as He keeps lifting me up
He is my life
He is my God
He is my wings
He is my flight
Lift me, I've got Jesus, I've got Jesus
and that's all I need

Tagaytay Holy Week

Went to Tagaytay last Holy Friday with half of my mom's family. Half 'cos only her women siblings and their families were there. My titos (mom's brothers) and their families weren't able to join because this was a spur-of-the-moment trip. That morning lang nagyaya si Kuya Mike to go to Tagaytay. So we were half the bunch, missed my other cousins, but still managed to have a 100% fun. Really love this big family to bits!!!!

Was excited to use my DSLR for the first time also so have been snapping these pictures the whole day. =)

'No PC' Afternoon

i have never used watercolor before but since mura nga ung art materials sa sydney, i bought a set na din. so i now tried working with it and this is the result... it looked like my artworks in gradeschool. bwahahaha.

i tried not turning on my laptop for the whole day (except now, hehe) so i could do other things instead of reading all the showbiz gossip in PEP and TMZ.com. haha. so i decided to at least use the art materials that i hoarded from sydney (super mura kasi dun kaya napa-"panic-buying"). sayang naman cos it was beginning to collect dust in my shelf.
